Scriptwriter’s remarks:
Summary: Speaker recounts an obsessive relationship. CW: Metaphors comparing a toxic relationship to addiction that may not sit well with some readers. This one felt a bit much, but it was begging to take shape, and I'm not one to argue with the words when they want out.
For some reason, my accent came out as more Australian than usual (though still not very broad), so I decided to tag it as such this time. This script is basically a poem about a sexual relationship rather than being wank material.
Technical info:
I recorded this on:
- the built-in stereo pair of condenser mics in XY configuration of a Zoom H5 portable recorder, and
- an Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB mono dynamic mic (with TNT +30dB pre-amp) connected via an analogue XLR cable to the H5.
I then mixed these three channels down to a single mono track, biased towards the warmer sound of the dynamic mic for the spoken version and towards the condenser pair for the whispered version.
I’m interested to know what people think of the output of these microphones individually though, so I’m also providing alternative audio uploads here. Is the mix that I made the best choice?
Spoken (mix)
Spoken (mono dynamic) Spoken (stereo condensers)
Whisper (mix)
Duration of every version: 2 minutes and 52.9 seconds.
