Synopsis
At what was supposed to be his bachelor party, a man is comforted by his tomboy best friend. He’d been texted messages just that morning showing his now ex-fiancée cheating with another woman. The marriage was now off. But even a few drinks and the naughty atmosphere of a gentleman’s club can’t get her out of his head. As always, it is up to his best friend to save the day.
Tech details
This is the first audio I’ve edited in Reaper instead of Audacity, and oh my god the learning curve. I’m teaching myself to be a sound engineer as well as a voice actress just in time for it all to be replaced by AI. 🙃
I’ve realised that there is really no reason to save at high sample rates. 32,000 samples per second covers 16kHz of pitch, which is as high as I can hear anyway. My tomboy voice certainly doesn’t squeak up that high. So that’s what I’m saving my FLACs as from now on.
I also needlessly complicated this by using three different mics for:
- my speaker-character’s dialogue (Røde NT1-A panned left)
- the narration (Zoom SSH-6 centred)
- the third-person dialogue (Sontronics Solo panned right).
Hopefully that creates a vaguely interesting stereo effect. It’ll probably either be unnoticed or annoy people, lol.

Anyway, I was very happy to indulge Homer’s fetish for slightly unhinged tomboys again!
